On Sunday, Dad and Mum took little Kirsten to the Green Point Park.
It was the first time since she was very young, that the three of us have done anything together since I moved out months ago. It was a special day for me!
The weather was beautiful and Kirsten was rested up after her mid-day nap. We set off to the park: lunch packed; camera on hand; batteries charged and my fingers were itching to get her in front of the lens to capture hundreds of her expressions.
The park is amazing. A true haven for kids to enjoy a sunny Cape Town day!
It was the first time I’d been there. I was excited. I was excited to see how Kirsten would react with the other kids. How the parents – complete strangers – would interact with other children running around. The potential for squabbles amongst both the adults and little-uns.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was nothing of the sort! The children got on remarkably well. It made me wonder where humans go wrong.. at this age, everyone is your friend. Everyone is friendly and everyone is a potential play-mate. We could learn a lot from these children!
Myself and Tracy too loads of pictures! It was such a stunning day!
Unfortunately, I will never be able to process those pictures. I will never be able to see, over and over again, the joy on Kirsten’s face while her Daddy pushed her on the swing. Higher and higher. My laptop bag was stolen along with the SD card from the day, the following evening and I’d not had a chance to back them up yet, as I’d spent Sunday evening processing a photoshoot from the Saturday.
I’ll never forget those images, however little Kirsten. The three of us had a wonderful day! You make my heart swell with joy!
