Anysberg West | FREEDOM Challenge 2010 |7 days in the Karoo to Cape Town

December 14th, 2009 | Sport Blog & Events | Christopher J Combrink | No Comments

Tomorrow morning, I will be heading out to the Klein Karoo so spend my 25th birthday making my way back the Cape on my Mountain Bike.

I’ll be joining 4 seasoned Adventure Racers on this trip, completely unsupported (no cars, no help, nothing but the heat of the Karoo beating down on our backs). We are plotting a new section of the growing-in-popularity Freedom Challenge for 2010.

Freedom Challendge 2010The trip will kick off from CTN Station tomorrow where we board the train and head off to Laingsberg. Ever heard of it? No? I’m not surprised. I’ve been there once. It is hot (as hell). It is remote (as hell). It is boring (as hell).

We will be carrying a live tracker so that you can check on our progress, real time, live on the Web. Would I have it any other way? ;) I will do my best to ‘live blog’ the trip as well as Steve, the Organiser.

More to follow ladies and gents, watch this space ;)

This will be My Boy’s (Still nameless, the Mountain Bike man..) virgin decent-MTB ride. I hope he holds out and gets me to where I need to be. More importantly, in one piece. I am sure that there will be plenty of good stories to unfold in the up-and-coming week. Enjoy the read, as I enjoy the life :D
